Garmin GPSMAP 551 and GPSMAP 551s feature a 5-inch colour display and are waterproof to IPX7 standards. Both versions of the 551 marine systems come preloaded with BlueChart g2 marine charts for UK and Ireland and a worldwide basemap. The difference between the GPSMAP 551 and GPSMAP 551s is the s version comes with a sounder for defining depth contours, finding fish and locating objects underwater. You will need to purchase a transducer to enable the sounder to operate.
With the Garmin GPSMAP 551 you can also add further mapping capabilities to the system using BlueChart g3 Vision mapping which provide satellite images and also has an Auto Guidance feature.

- The Edge is Garmin’s range of cycle-specific GPSs. They are the smallest and neatest-looking units, rather obviously taking their DNA from cyclecomputers, and I think this above everything else is enough to sway many buyers.
